The magic of the '99 semi-finals packed in four overs by Warne!

April 6th 2010 03:58
It was not 1999. It was 2010.

It was not World Cup semi-final. It was the IPL.

It was not Australia. It was Rajasthan Royals.

But it was that man, Shane Warne. Again.

The magic he wove was not only restricted to the ball. He went on to mesmerize the batsmen as well, making them believe that every delivery that he would send down would be the 'Ball of the Century'. In much like the same manner that he made his own team-mates believe that a paltry total such as 160 was defendable.

The amount he tossed the ball was fabulous, matched only by the height the coin had gone during the toss. The batsmen, bamboozled, a word that was often associated with them when Warne was at his peak.

In the end, he chose a situation, a stage, to garner his first ever four-wicket haul in T20 cricket. And sent his former team-mates Adam Gilchrist and Andrew Symonds packing to another defeat.

A pity then, that only a handful of spectators watched the IPL game between Rajasthan and Deccan at Nagpur.
