Out of the frying pan, into the fire. Out of the fire, into a short circuit. Out of a short circuit, and the building collapses.
The question though is, will IPL still escape unscathed? After all what has happened in the past one week?
England had a John Major who was a die-hard cricket fanatic. Australia have John Howard. But the Indian PM has been called upon to adjudicate on the cricket 'field' for a totally different reason. No, cricket is barely his passion!
It is the multi-faceted, multi-entity and the latest, and by far, the biggest controversy to have hit the IPL that has dragged the who's who of India into the whole mess.
And while even the doomsday conspirators have not yet spoken about the end of thecricket world IPL yet, the likes of Lalit Modi and BCCI need to do a lot more than only look at the Pause button.
While one may see back-room machinations pull the BCCI out of this one as well, the fact of the matter is that it is not too often the Income Tax Department, Chief Ministers of States, former and current BCCI chiefs, businessmen alike, the PMO and the Prime Minister himself have been associated with one single controversy related to Indian cricket. And that, by itself, could change a lot of things!
