A good chance that the Kings XI Punjab side may play Brett Lee today. They would have played Doe Jane too, given their situation. One win in five games means that they are fast slipping out of contention for a place in semi-finals of the IPL despit been nine games away.
Talking of Brett Lee, it is a wonder that he has become fit for the tournament, after having struggled through the last six months; ever since the tour of India, where he was to play seven ODIs. Between then and today, Australia has had those seven ODIs and long tours from West Indies and Pakistan, not to mention a series against New Zealand, and Lee has yet to feature in a single game.
Before all this international jamboree, players from around the world were involved in the Champions League T20 and Lee was at his fittest then. He ended up man of the series. And straight after that, he will play in the IPL! Cannot get better than this!
Today's game for the Punjab side is against the Kolkata Knight Riders, who have themselves not acquitted themselves too well. Two wins followed by three straight losses means that the ghosts of the previous couple of editions would have returned to haunt them. Will they turn them around? Doubtful when you have an unfit, 37-year old as your captain and a Bollywood owner who shoots off from the lips like his script-writer has just asked him to recite those lines.
Difficult to choose then, who will win the match between Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders!
