The Shoaib Malik-Sania Mirza-Ayesh Siddiqui triangle took another twist today, when the Indian police of Hyderabad seized the Pakistani cricketer's passport and questioned him for ninety minutes.
The reason? Ayesha's father lodged a police complaint against Malik that he had married his daughter and was now refusing to accept the same, even as he announced to the world that he would be tying the knot with Indian tennis star, Sania Mirza.
Really, it is difficult to take sides in this.
Malik says he married over the telephone when he was shown photos of a different (and as he had earlier claimed, a prettier) girl! The Ayesha who surfaced later was a different one. Rather surprisingly, even after marriage, Malik never met Ayesha for a long time, and the identity was revealed when his brother-in-law told him that a totally different girl was proclaiming that Malik was her husband.
Ayesha and her family, say that this is not true. Obviously, they cannot say anything else!
So what happens next? The Ayesha clan lodge a police complaint, the police seizes the Malik passport and questions him.
Malik's supposed to get married to Sania on 15th April, which is around ten days from now, and in a country where court cases take years to get solved, it would be interesting to see where does this one head in the next ten days.
And it would be pertinent to remind the readers that Malik was a former captain of the Pakistani side and is currently banned by the PCB for another set of undisclosed reasons.
