Murali Vijay sizzles with century, as does the temperature!

April 3rd 2010 12:39
Now that is what you call a century! Murali Vijay, who had given a trailer of the things to come today, in the game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore by smashing a 39-ball 78 went one - or 49 - better when he slammed a century against the Rajasthan Royals at Chennai.

Vijay had made his Test debut two years back in a game against Australia when Gautam Gambhir had punched a hole in Shane Watson's abdomen while running between the wickets. He looked to have a crunching timing and he seems to have carried from where he left off there.

Murali Vijay's century came off only 46 balls, which made it the fourth fastest century in T20 cricket and in the end, he was dismissed in the last over for 127 off 56 balls. Chennai scored 246/5 in their 20 overs, to bring up the highest total in IPL cricket.

Okay, so that was the good bit. Want to hear the not-so-good part? The game was played in 41 degree celcius temperatures and nearing cent percentage humidity! How do you even walk in those conditions, let alone play cricket?

Guess Modi will be able to answer it better.
