iRobots to take over cricket field

This is a short one before I sleep for the day. The title says it all.
Am rather surprised by Mr. Lalit Modi's announcement that there is going to be another IPL-like tournament played throughout the rest of the world that will earn them the moolah.
My friend has blogged about the cricket excesses resulting from it here. It makes me wonder whether the words of Symonds, Gilchrist, Gambhir and the silence of the rest of the hapless cricketers has fallen on deaf ears for the board?
Won't the quality of cricket be affected? Already the players are getting injured in much like the same manner as I swat flies back in my office. Especially on days when I have no work. (and there are many such days!)
More cricket would increase these instances. The injuries. The second rung cricketers would get an opportunity to show off their wares. But the quality would not be the same. Mediocrity, which is such a vice, will be on display. And regularly.
I dread the day.
