Do groin injuries take seven months?

March 29th 2010 06:05
One hears about Jesse Ryder after an eon. Ryder's got a hundred in his first comeback, first class game in Wellington, which will make a strong case for his comeback to international level.

But the question is, where was he all these days? I mean, I know it was an injured groin, but the last I saw him in action was when a poor, little chair was bashed up black and blue by the man after he had got out in the Champions Trophy in South Africa.

That was September last year. Then, he just vanished from the face of the earth. Do groin injuries take seven months to recover from?

The only positive that one thinks comes out of it is that at least unlike some of the other guys, his injuries are not preferential to the season and the tournament occurring at that point in time.

So, a series against Australia could have ensured the continuance of his injury, while the IPL or some such likes of these heavy pay cheque tournaments could have ensured a semi-fit Ryder run after the ball with the aplomb of Sourav Ganguly.

Not so far for him!

In the meantime, the Aussies are crawling towards the 500 that I had spoken about here, to take the game out of the Kiwi reach. Despite the confidence of Matthew Sinclair and his three over spell.
