So Chennai Super Kings is soon going to have a bowling saviour. And he will go by the name of Doug Bollinger.
The issue with thebowling pace bowling department for Chennai is rather grave. Albie Morkel looks to be as pedestrian as someone attempting to cross the road in the middle of a peak hour traffic, whereas the Indian bowling troika of L Balaji, Manpreet Gony and Sudeep Tyagi has, at best, been awful.
Makhaya Ntini, much like the case was when he was playing for South Africa, continues to be ignored.
Thank God for the spinners then, Muthiah Muralitharan and Shadab Jakati, that the Super Kings have still managed to keep afloat, but the time is running out for them. They need someone to run through the opposition for them.
That is where Dougie boy will enter the picture. He will not have that Aussie crest to kiss after taking a scalp, but the sponsors won't mind if he smooched their logo either. Nor will Dhoni, as that would make it easier for the captain as well.
Only a slight issue. Bollinger has just spent the best part of a month in a country where the temperature isn't what you define as hot. Far from it. And Chennai is not only hot, but it will also be muggy and humid and quite sapping. So, whether Bollinger will be able to adapt to the situation is a question everyone's asking.
The answer will be known and soon.
Again, I cannot stop wondering. Such heat, humidity and Mr. Modi wants to go ahead with a second IPL? Killer.
